Early childhood is a crucial time of development.  Part of our mission to the children in our care is providing not only a nurturing environment but care that promotes healthy physical, emotional and spiritual development.  It is our goal to build a team of caregivers that are inspired by the idea of participating in the healthy development of children birth to five years old.


There are some things that you should know when applying for employment with our facility. 


Our facility is governed by the General Statutes and Ordinances for Child Care of the State of North Carolina.  There are standards that we must comply with to satisfy the lawful requirements to operate our facility that ensure the health and safety of the children in our care.

The Application Process


The application process includes the following:


·         Completion of the Staff Application for Employment, Emergency Medical and Contact Information

·         Provide two references, one from a previous employer and one from a character reference.


The first step in the process is to submit your completed Staff Application for Employment.

The Employment Proposal


After an interview and orientation to our organization an employment proposal will be given to the applicant.  Applicants will have 5 business days to accept or reject the proposal by way of their signature on the employment proposal.



Pre-Service Requirements

Fingerprinting and Criminal Records

1.  Obtain and complete Criminal Records forms 1 and 2 from Administrator.  Go to Macon County Sherriff's Office to have your fingerprints made.

Cost:  $5 check or money order only.  Wednesdays and Thursdays 8:30AM - 12:30PM only.


2.  Please go to the Clerk of Court's office and request a local background check for the Division of Child Development.  There is no charge for this.


3.  Register and Check In online through the link below with NC Division of Child Development Criminal Records Cost:

4.  Bring all of these items within five calendar days to the Administrator and all documents will be sent to Raleigh NC to the NCDCDEE



Medical Records:  Staff Medical Summary and Tuberculin (TB) Test

Macon County Health Dept.  1832 Lakeside Dr., Franklin NC  828-349-2081 for an appointment if needed.

TB Test:  $20  (Process takes three days)      Staff Medical Summary:  $35  or from your personal physician. 



Employee Orientation  

After the pre-service requirements are completed AND you have received a qualification letter from the NCDCDEE you may begin Employee Orientation.


Employee Orientation is a progression of observation of center operations and basic training that will take six weeks to complete.  The course is 16 hours and 6 hours must be completed during the first 2 weeks of orientation.


Recognizing Symptoms of Child Abuse and Neglect – Online Training 2.0 Clock Hours

This training module is an online course.  Make sure you have access to a working printer. 

It takes about one hour and forty-five minutes to complete the training.  At the end you will be prompted to print your certificate of completion.  BE CAREFUL if you miss the prompt or exit it before you print you have to take the course over again.

Observation of Center Operations  2.0 Clock Hours

At this point you will spend one hour in an Infant Toddler Room and one hour in a Preschool Classroom (2s).  You should pay close attention to the teachers and how they interact with parents and children.  Please notice the materials and personal items of the children, how they are used, where they are stored.  Please be attentive to procedures such as diapering and hand washing routines.  Please call the director at 828-342-7737 to set up your Observation Appointment. 


Appointments are scheduled between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11:00, Monday - Friday.
